Apart from the obvious weight saving advantages, alloy is a far better conductor of heat than steel. Size for size an alloy radiator has almost double the cooling efficiency of the car’s standard radiator. Long gone are the days of worrying about overheating when sat in traffic – particularly if an alloy radiator is used in conjunction with a modern, thermostatically controlled electric fan. Gone too is the chore of having to flush the radiator annually, because unlike steel, alloy does not rust and therefore maintains 100% efficiency throughout the life of the car.
